Meet Emma Burg. A New Orleans native, Emma has trained with the Radio City Rockettes, walked in New Orleans Fashion Week, and is currently studying Fashion Merchandising at Louisiana State University. Emma is also a member of the Alpha Eta Chapter of Phi Mu at LSU. She hopes to use her experiences to become an influencer and clothing boutique owner. As someone whose style and determination have inspired me for years, I hope you have as much fun reading this as Emma and I did in our collaboration.
What’s the best thing that happened to you this month? I took on a new business and it really sparked my interest! I love selling things to others!
What is something you’re tired of? Coronavirus!!
What is something that recently moved you? I recently watched this documentary on Netflix and it exposed me to how horrible some people can be.
If you could teach one subject in school what would it be? History! I love telling stories about the past!
What’s your favorite beverage? Lemonade!
What’s your go-to snack? Goldfish!
What is your favorite birthday cake? Ice cream cake!
What is one thing you still have from your childhood? My first pair of earrings!
What is your favorite movie? How to lose a guy in 10 days or Mamma Mia. Too hard to just choose one!
What is a new hobby you want to pick up? Cooking! I’ve never been a good cook but I guess it’s time to try again!
What is one habit you wish you could break? Eating sweets at night!
What makes you laugh no matter what? My little cousin Lucy! She’s always saying something crazy!
What does fashion mean to you? Everything! It is like a way of life to me!
What are your favorite lyrics of all time? “Dancing when there ain’t no music”
What is something you’ve always wanted to try but you’ve been too scared to do? Skydiving!
Best advice you would give your younger self? BE CONFIDENT!
If you could raid one woman’s closet who would it be? Peyton Ganus!

What did you want to do with your life at age 12? Either be a Rockette or a Model! I had big dreams haha!
What is something you will not be doing in ten years? Going to school!
What is an important life lesson for someone to learn? Never take for granted the time you have because it goes away sooner than you think.
What is one goal you are determined to achieve in your lifetime? I am determined to travel to all 50 states by the time I’m 50! I have 20 or so right now!
If you would live somewhere outside the United States, where would it be? Santorini, Greece!
Why that city? Santorini is so beautiful and I love the vibe and culture of this country! It reminds me of a carefree and fun lifestyle!
Piece of clothing you can wear all year long? Jeans!
Trend you love on others but don’t like on yourself? Bell Bottomed jeans!
What was it like walking in New Orleans Fashion Week? SO MUCH FUN!! It was everything I dreamed it would be! I was getting my hair and makeup done at the same time, clothes being thrown on me right before I walked the runway, fabric flying everywhere…it was awesome!!
Which show has been your favorite so far? Gossip Girl or 90210!
What is a book you are planning on reading? Instastyle. It basically teaches you how to use your Instagram as a business platform!
What did you read most recently? A blog on health and wellness!
Favorite designer? Coco Chanel or Vera Wang! I’ve always said Vera would design my wedding dress… haha we’ll see!
Favorite fashion movie? Sex and the City or The Devil Wears Prada! Too hard to pick one!
What’s a city you wish to visit? Right now, I want to visit Nashville, Tennessee!
Heels or flats? 100% heels!!!
Where does one go on a perfect road trip? The beach! Or somewhere in the mountains!
What do you do on a rainy day? I surprisingly get a lot done on a rainy day! It almost forces me to get my to-do list done!!
What’s your favorite exercise? I love working out my abs! The pain feels really good to me!
What have you learned most from your Fashion Merchandising major so far? Trends are VERY important to buyers and sewing is not as easy as it looks!!
If you could have dinner with any person, dead or alive, who would it be? Peyton Ganus or Marilyn Monroe!
What do you usually eat for breakfast? Protein bar or eggs!
What do you usually eat for dinner? Usually some type of chicken with a side of mac and cheese or pasta!

How do you manage stress? When I get stressed, I have learned to walk away from the situation and do something to get my mind off of it!
What do you do to relax? Take a hot bath, plug in my diffuser, lay down and shop!

Favorite fashion trend of all time? Big earrings! That’s what makes an outfit!!
Best fashion advice you’ve ever received? Don’t wear horizontal lines, they make you look bigger than you actually are.
Trend you would like to see disappear forever? Sweatpants as dress pants!
Shoes or Bags? This is the hardest question!!! If I had to pick…shoes! But I still do LOOOVE my bags:)
How do you know if you’re in love? You just know. You don’t look at people the same way, you center your life around that person, and you can’t go a day without talking to them. They mean everything to you!

Who do you turn to when you’re sad? My mom or my boyfriend!

What was it like dancing with the Radio City Rockettes? AMAZING!! Training with them for a week in New York gave me a real taste of what it was like to be a Radio City Rockette!

What is your biggest strength? Being able to handle a lot of things at once!

Where did you first get your love for fashion? I’ve loved it for as long as I can remember! I would like to say my childhood icons like Sharpay, Cinderella, and Hannah Montana haha! But I believe I was born with it!!
